Mikami Teren's popular light novel title, "There's No Freaking Way I'll Be Your Lover! Unless... (Watashi ga Koibito ni Nareru Wake Nai jan, Muri Muri! (※Muri ja Nakatta!?)))", will have an anime adaptation that will premiere in Summer-2025 (July-September). A visual teaser, a promotional video, and details about the cast and production team were also revealed.

The original novel won first place in the New Works category of the 2021 Next Light Novel Award and, as of April 2023, had already surpassed 500,000 copies sold. In addition, the work has a manga adaptation illustrated by Musshu, which is published on the Niconico platform. In a comment, author Mikami Teren expressed her excitement about the adaptation:

  • "Four years ago, I decided to write this play because I felt that there was a lack of more love stories between girls in light novels. I'm excited to see how this genre has grown and I hope that, with this adaptation, more people will be able to enjoy it."

Fans are already anticipating the arrival of this adaptation, which promises to capture the essence of the original work while bringing its vibrant characters to life on screen. The series will be one of the most anticipated productions of 2025, and both the teaser and the team's comments have generated excitement on social media.

  • Kanna Nakamura, the voice of Renako Amaori: "Ever since I read the original work, I became a big fan of this story. Each of the characters has a unique background and is full of charm, and the girls are simply fascinating! Each episode is packed with heart-pounding emotions. Renako is a character who is always a little nervous, but she has a great capacity for empathy and a kind heart. I think that's what makes it so charming, so I'll do my best to play it with all my heart. Thank you for your support!"
  • Saori Oonishi, the voice of Mai Ouzuka: "As I play Mai, I can't help but reflect on the depth of the central theme of this story: 'love between girls.' It is a moving and meaningful experience. In addition, the enthusiasm of the original author, the director and the rest of the team is impressive; Each recording session has been meticulous and enriching. I'm really grateful for this project and look forward to the moment when 'Watashina' hits the public. Please look forward to the premiere!"
  • Yukari Anzai, the voice of Ajisai Sena: "When I first voiced Ajisai, I felt like I was a perfect fit for the character. I was very excited when I finally knew that I would have the opportunity to play her. It's a character that I'm approaching with all the care and affection possible. I love how the characters' conversations and relationships are so expressive and nuanced, and I can't wait to see how they'll come to life in the anime. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do. Please stay tuned and look forward
  • to it!"
