SK8 The Infinity returns in January

On the official site for the original "SK8 The Infinity" franchise, a new promotional video for the "SK8 The Infinity Extra Part" OVA was revealed. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for January 24, 2025 in theaters in Japan, and shows a fragment of the main theme song titled "SKATERS' QUEST" and performed by Tasuku Hatanaka and Chiaki Kobayashi.

The OVA in question will be composed of four episodes titled "Ame to Neko Conbini Ice Soda Aji", "Maji de Maji ni Nareru Koto", "Morning Routine", and "Ganbare Hiromi-chan!". Although the OVA will only have a combined duration of 25 minutes, the theatrical screening will extend it to 60 minutes with a compilation of the first season and a special video of the voice cast.

The original series aired during the Winter-2021 season (January-March) and had a total of twelve episodes. This inspired a variety of sub-franchises, such as a manga adaptation by Kazuto Kojima and the spin-off "SK8 The Infinity Chill Out!" by Toriyasu. A second season is currently in production.

Synopsis of SK8 The Infinity

High school student Reki Kyan has a passion: skateboarding. When night falls, he heads to "S," an underground and illegal race inside a mine where skateboarders compete in extremely dangerous situations. However, after a defeat that ends with his skateboard destroyed and his arm broken, Reki finds himself unable to fully practice.

While working, Reki crosses paths with his new classmate, Langa Hasegawa, a half-Canadian, half-Japanese boy who has no experience in skateboarding. Langa, desperate for money, accompanies Reki to "S" for a task assigned by the latter's boss. There they get into trouble and end up involved in a bet that forces Langa to participate in a race. However, the mysterious transfer student has an ace up his sleeve that Reki is unaware of, one that could help him win the race in the most unexpected way.
