The harassment of Jun Maeda and Heaven Burns Red continues

The production of the popular video game "Heaven Burns Red" released an official statement announcing the cancellation of the live event "Heaven Burns Red Information Bureau Vol. 76" scheduled for today. According to the statement, the decision was made due to threats of interference that put the safety of attendees, actors, and event staff at risk.
"Heaven Burns Red" is the first video game written by Jun Maeda in 15 years since his work on "Little Busters!" Jun Maeda, a well-known screenwriter in the industry, has come under fire in recent years, especially for the anime "The Day I Became A God," which failed to meet fans' expectations. This failure led Maeda to close her social media accounts temporarily and probably focus her efforts on the development of this video game instead of continuing with anime production.
Because of this background, it is believed that the threats mentioned in the statement were not aimed at the entire team, but directly at Maeda. The official statement states the following:
- Regarding the "Heaven Burns Red Information Bureau Vol. 76" that was scheduled for Thursday, August 8, 2024, we have decided to cancel its realization in a live streaming format due to the reasons stated below.
- [Reason for the cancellation of the live broadcast] Acts of threat that suggest interference from the live broadcast have been confirmed, and prioritizing the safety of attendees, actors, and event staff, we have decided to cancel the realization in the live broadcast format.
- We deeply regret the inconvenience for attendees who were hoping to participate in the livestream, but we appreciate your understanding. To prevent these criminal acts from happening in the future, we will work collaboratively with law enforcement and take legal action to resolve this matter.

The "Heaven Burns Red" community has shown their support for Jun Maeda and the production team, understanding the severity of the threats and the need to prioritize safety. The production is working closely with the police to take the necessary legal action to ensure that these incidents are not repeated in the future.
- "Because of some fools, the long-awaited event has been ruined ( ́;ω;') I can't forgive it."
- "No matter what you think of the production, doing something that becomes a criminal act is wrong."
- "A while ago I thought there were disturbing posts floating around, but... has it really come to this? When actual harassment towards a woman who attended a fan meeting and other incidents are mixed, these things happen."
- "The livestream has been canceled... Over the last year it seemed like player morale was dropping, so I was worried about this."
- "This is the worst. Many thanks to the production team for their hard work."
- "I think the decision is inevitable. However, to compensate those who might have participated in this livestream, I think they should be prioritized to participate in the next livestream."
- "Children who are accusing the "Heaven Burns Red environment" without evidence are quick ... There's a lot of possibilities, like it's an attempt at sabotage by fans of other games or it's someone who retired a long time ago and is jealous of the enthusiasm for the 2.5th anniversary."
- "It's a great shame for those who won the opportunity."
- "Acts of threat... I don't understand what they feel when they do it, but it's very unfortunate."
- "It's dangerous, it makes me sad."
