The anime characters with the best eyes

The Anime! Anime! has conducted a survey under the title "Which anime character has the most impressive eyes?", following up on a similar exercise carried out last year. On this occasion, the survey brought together 1,480 participants between August 30 and September 2, with results that reveal interesting insights about fan preference.
This probing is not a simple curiosity, since the eyes are a fundamental element in the representation of anime characters. Often, the eyes are not only an aesthetic trait, but they can convey emotions, define personalities and even make a character memorable with just a glance. For many anime fans, identifying a character by their eyes becomes a natural skill, since in Japanese animation the details in this part of the face are essential to highlight their uniqueness.
The choice to conduct the survey around the eyes is no coincidence. September 9, known as "Mascara Day" (Masukara no Hi) in Japan, is linked to large, expressive eyes, a feature that has made anime so iconic around the world. This date was originally established by a cosmetics company to promote the beauty of the eyes, with special emphasis on the use of products such as mascara, which beautify this area. Just like in makeup, where the eyes are the center of facial expression, in anime, they are a crucial component in capturing viewers' attention.
The Anime! Anime! The participation of a mostly female audience stood out, as approximately 65% of the participants were women, while only 25% were men. The remaining 10% chose not to reveal their gender. In addition, the survey predominantly appealed to a young audience, with 60% of participants being 19 years old or younger, and 15% in their twenties, demonstrating that the fascination with flashy-eyed characters is particularly strong among younger generations.
