Shangri-La Frontier Anime Will Get Second Season This Year

The production of the anime adaptation of the manga written by Katarina and illustrated by Ryousuke Fuji, Shangri-La Frontier: Crappy Game Hunter Challenges God-Tier Game, announced that the project will have a second season that will premiere this coming October in Japan. It was also revealed that this sequel will run for two consecutive cours.

For its part, Fuji began publishing the Shangri-La Frontier manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in July 2020. The manga is based on the series of novels of the same name written by Katarina, which have been published through the site Shousetsuka ni Narou since May 2017. Katarina also wrote an additional series of novels that were published in Weekly Shonen Magazine itself.

Ayumi Kurashima (DEVILMAN crybaby, Megalobox 2: Nomad) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
MONACA (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru, Nisekoi, Lucky Star, Summer Time Render) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Shangri-La Frontier

Rakurou Hizutome, a second-year high school student, is only interested in one thing: finding "shitty games" and beating them up. His knack for games is second to none, and no game is too bad for him. So when he's introduced to the new virtual reality game Shangri-La Frontier, he does what he does best: maximize and skip the prologue to jump straight into the action. But can even a skilled player like Rakurou uncover all the secrets hidden in Shangri-La Frontier?
