Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei announces another film

Following today's final episode, a press release announced the production of a new sequel for the anime franchise of "Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School)." This sequel will be a film that will adapt the "Yotsuba Succession Arc", which encompasses Volume 16 of the original light novels.

Although a promotional video was included, a scheduled release date for this new project was not revealed. It should be noted that this is one of the longest-running franchises based on light novels, inspiring its first season more than ten years ago and enduring to date through seasons, OVAs, films and spin-offs.

In December, Miyuki receives an invitation to the Yotsuba's New Year's family gathering. However, unlike previous years, in the invitation they especially added "Everyone must attend". Miyuki understands that "the time has come": it's time to decide on the next boss of the Yotsuba clan. (If she is elected, her brother will be free.) Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei announces another film

For their part, Tsutomu Satou and Kana Ishida began publishing the light novels through Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko publishing house in July 2011 and finished it in September 2021. A sequel titled "Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei: Magian Company" released its first volume in October 2021 in Japan.

The work has inspired three anime seasons since Spring-2014 (April-June), which to date add up to a total of fifty-two episodes. The special "The Irregular at Magic High School: Reminiscence Arc" was also produced in December-2021 and the spin-off anime "The Honor Student at Magic High School" in Summer-2021 (July-September), although the latter was produced by CONNECT studios.

Synopsis of Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei

At the dawn of the 21st century, magic, long considered folklore and fairy tales, has become a systematized technology and is taught as a technical skill. At the First Preparatory School, the institution for magicians, students are segregated into two groups based on the score obtained in the entrance exam: Those who score high are assigned to the First Course, while the "weeds" are reserve students assigned to the Second Course.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei follows brothers Tatsuya and Miyuki Shiba, who enroll in the First Course. Upon taking the exam, the prodigious Miyuki is placed in the First Course, while Tatsuya is relegated to the Second Course. Although his grades in practical exams and his status as a "Bad Grass" show him to be inept at magic, he possesses extraordinary technical knowledge, physical combat capabilities, and unique magical techniques, making Tatsuya the irregular of a magical institute.
