HUNTER x HUNTER would be in danger again

The creator of the popular series "HUNTER x HUNTER," Yoshihiro Togashi, shared on November 28 on his official Twitter account that he recently underwent surgery. In his post, Togashi stated, "I have completed two chapters. I underwent surgery under local anesthesia, which allowed me to receive explanations and narrations during the procedure. It was a very valuable and educational experience. I'm grateful."

Although Togashi did not specify the nature of the surgery, he had previously mentioned on social media that he suffers from chronic back problems, noting on one occasion that his "low back pain had worsened considerably." This health issue has significantly affected the production of "HUNTER x HUNTER", forcing extended pauses in its release.

HUNTER x HUNTER would be in danger again

The most recent chapter of the work, number 400, had been published on December 26, 2022 in the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, after which the series ceased to be weekly due to the author's state of health. At the time, the editorial team explained: "Considering Togashi-sensei's health, we have decided, after consultation with him, that the series will continue in a non-weekly publication format. Togashi-sensei continues to work on the next chapters, and the Shueisha publishing house will continue to support him until the completion of the work."

However, after an extended hiatus, "HUNTER x HUNTER" resumed its weekly serialization in October 2024, beginning with chapter 401 in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. This reactivation has generated enthusiasm among fans, who have followed each update of the author carefully through social networks.

Togashi's health problems have been widely known within the industry. His dedication to "HUNTER x HUNTER", even in adverse physical conditions, has been a source of admiration, but also concern among fans. The series, which began in 1998, has faced multiple hiatuses due to the health of the author, who is also famous for having created "Yu Yu Hakusho."

Despite these difficulties, Togashi remains committed to completing the story, whose current arc focuses on the Dark Continent Expedition and the conflict over succession in the Kakin Empire, plots that have increased the complexity and scope of the work.
