Tower of God changes studios for their return

During the AnimeJapan 2024 event, more information was revealed for the second season of the webtoon anime adaptation written and illustrated by SIU, "Tower of God." The statement confirms that the premiere is scheduled for next July in Japan, and lists many changes in the production team, such as the departure of Telecom Animation Film studios, which made the first season.

The press release listed that the music unit NiziU will be in charge of both the opening theme and the closing theme of this sequel. It should be remembered that this second season will adapt the "Prince's Return Arc" and the "Factory Battle Arc", which occur many years after the beginning of the story.

On the other hand, SIU has been publishing the webtoon "Tower of God" through the Naver Webtoon service since 2010. The play inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Telecom Animation Film studios, under the direction of Takashi Sano and scripts written by Erika Yoshida, released in April 2020. The original work has gone into multiple suspensions due to constant physical exhaustion of the author.

New production equipment

Kazuyoshi Takeuchi (Kotonoha no Niwa, AKIRA, Harmony) is credited with directing the project, while Akira Suzuki is taking over the direction at The Answer Studio, replacing Takashi Sano and Telecom Animation Film Studios.
Erika Yoshida (Bocchi the Rock!, Namu Amida Butsu!: Rendai UTENA, Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare) returns to write and supervise the scripts.
Miho Tanino (Tsukumogami Kashimasu), Seigo Kitazawa (Suzume no Tojimari, Kidou Senshi Gundam: Cucuruz Doan no Shima) and Isamitsu Kashima are in charge of character design and animation direction.
Kevin Penkin (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Made in Abyss) returns to compose the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Tower of God

There is a tower that summons chosen people called "Regulars" with the promise of granting their deepest wishes. Whether it's wealth, fame, authority, or something that surpasses them all, everything awaits those who make it to the top. Bam is a boy who had only known a dark cave, a dirty cloth, and an unreachable light all his life. Then, when a girl named Rachel approached him through the light, his entire world changed.

By becoming close friends with Rachel, he learned from her several things about the outside world. But when Rachel says she must leave him to climb the Tower, her world shatters around her. Promising to follow her no matter what it takes, he sets his sights on the tower and a miracle happens. Thus begins the journey of Bam, a young man who was not chosen by the Tower, but opened its doors by himself. They call their species "Irregulars," beings who have shaken the foundations of the Tower every time they set foot inside it.
