The Spice and Wolf remake already has a release date

During the AnimeJapan 2024 event, a new promotional visual was revealed for the new anime adaptation of Isuna Hasekura's light novels, "Spice and Wolf (Ookami to Koushinryou)." The press release listed that the premiere is scheduled for April 1 in Japan, and it was announced that it will last for two consecutive cours (six months of broadcasting).

Considering that the series, officially titled as "Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf" will premiere in the first week of the Spring-2024 season (April-June), it is valid to infer that it will have at least a total of twenty-four episodes.

The Spice and Wolf remake already has a release date

Isuna Hasekura and Juu Ayakura began publishing the light novels in February 2006 through Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint. The work inspired a manga adaptation by Keito Koume that was published between September 2007 and December 2017.

The franchise also inspired a twelve-episode anime adaptation produced by Imagin Studios, under the direction of Takeo Takahashi and scripts written by Naruhisa Arakawa, released in January 2008. A twelve-episode second season was produced by Brain's Base and Marvy Jack Studios, and premiered in July 2009.

Hijiri Sanpei (Rokka no Yuusha, Maoyuu Maou Yuusha, Citrus) is directing the anime at Passione Studios.
Kouji Haneda (Saihate no Paladin, PERSONA5 the Animation, Orenchi no Furo Jijou, Yarichin☆Bitch-bu) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
Kevin Penkin (Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Made in Abyss, Tower of God) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Spice and Wolf

Holo is a powerful wolf deity who is celebrated and revered in the small town of Pasloe for blessing the annual harvest. However, as the years go by and the villagers become more self-sufficient, Holo, who stylizes herself as the "Wise Wolf of Yoitsu," has been reduced to a mere folktale. When a traveling merchant named Kraft Lawrence stops in Pasloe, Holo offers to become his business partner if he eventually takes her to his northern home of Yoitsu.

The savvy merchant recognizes Holo's unusual ability to assess a person's character and accepts his proposal. Now possessing both great business skill and a charismatic negotiator, Lawrence is getting closer and closer to his goal of opening his own store. However, as Lawrence travels through the countryside with Holo in search of economic opportunities, he begins to realize that his aspirations are slowly morphing into something unexpected.
