Suzume Believed to Have Predicted Earthquakes in Japan

After the first broadcast on television of the film "Suzume no Tojimari" by director Makoto Shinkai in Japan, earthquakes have been recorded in two Japanese cities that the protagonist visits within the story of the film. The plot of this 2022 Japanese animated film, written and directed by Makoto Shinkai, follows Suzume Iwato, a 17-year-old high school student, and an unknown young man named Souta Munakata, who team up to prevent a series of disasters across Japan by sealing doors from a colossal, supernatural worm that causes earthquakes after being released.

The movie "Suzume" first aired on April 5 on television in Japan. While the film aired smoothly, a strange occurrence occurred right after. Two cities that the protagonist visited were hit by earthquakes. A Twitter user posted two images of epicentral earthquake maps and noted how Suzume had traveled to the same two cities, in that order.

Again, this is mere coincidence, and even the user apologized to fans if it caused them any discomfort. If the movie is predicting where the next strong earthquake will be in Japan, then it would be in the city of Kobe. Thankfully, it's been almost a month since the film's TV premiere and it didn't happen.
