Sousou no Frieren ends, but no sequel announcement

The anime adaptation of "Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End)" has wrapped up today, and while production on a second season wasn't immediately announced, the final episode listed a special message that reads, "The journey to Ende continues."

Sousou no Frieren ends, but no sequel announcement

It should be remembered that Ende is the region located in the northernmost part of the continent, where the Demon King's Castle is located and where Aureole is also located, the place where souls rest and where Frieren plans to go to reunite with Himmel.

It's certainly not the first time that an anime has ended with "the promise of a sequel", but it's unlikely that it won't continue with the anime adaptation of "Sousou no Frieren" considering the immense popularity it had during its six months of airing and the effect it had on the original manga (book sales increased considerably, reaching twenty million copies in circulation today).

And of course, there was no shortage of comments about the broadcast of this final episode:

  • "It was a good final episode."
  • "Well, what about the sequel? Will they announce it soon?"
  • "How many manga arcs are left to adapt to animation?"
  • "Please do a second season soon."
  • "The journey continues! Please keep producing more anime about Sousou no Frieren!"
  • "Well guys, now we have to wait a hundred years to produce a second season or sooner if they change studios, what do you prefer?"
  • "There's still a long way to go to have a sequel film. If we're going to go into the Golden Lands Arc and stuff, that's too many arcs to cram into two hours of animation."
  • "If there's any sequel or movie announcements in the pipeline, maybe they'll do it next week."
  • "It was a really good anime, probably my favorite show right now."
  • "What will happen to director Keiichiro Saito after he makes Bocchi the Rock! and Sousou don't Frieren so successful?"
  • "Anime is definitely better than manga, especially since it expands the battle scenes."
  • "It was a good anime, I hope we'll see each other again in the future."
  • "I'm looking forward to the director's next project. We've already seen your work at CloverWorks and Madhouse, what's your next studio?"
