Solo Leveling is crowned the best webtoon in the world

Despite the fact that three years have passed since the conclusion of the original manhwa of "Solo Leveling", the work continues to garner accolades. Recently, she was awarded the Grand Prize at the World Webtoon Awards, an event that was held at the end of last month. According to a report by The Korea Times, this award was part of the first edition of the World Webtoon Awards, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of South Korea together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). This new award seeks to strengthen the global presence of webtoons, one of South Korea's most important cultural exports.

The ceremony was held during the World Webtoon Festival, an event that also featured other well-known webtoon series, such as "Lookism" and "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint." "Lookism" already has an animated adaptation produced by Studio Mir, released on Netflix in 2022, while "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint" revealed its first trailer at the Anime Expo earlier this year.

Redice Studio CEO Jang Jung-sook received the award on behalf of "Solo Leveling," remembering studio founder and manhwa artist Jang Sung-rak (DUBU), who passed away in 2022. In a statement, Jung-sook mentioned that the studio strives to create high-quality webtoons that can be loved by readers around the world, honoring the late artist's wishes.

Leveling alone has been read more than 14 billion times, cementing itself as a giant in the webtoon world. In addition, the franchise continues to expand. "Solo Leveling: Ragnarok," the sequel to the original series, debuted in Korea in August and has generated enormous interest. Fans of the franchise are also waiting for the premiere of the second season of the anime, which is just around the corner.
