Solo Leveling could have up to six seasons

It is often said within the anime industry that when a project is announced it only has one confirmed season, or even two if the production committee is confident enough with the source material and it has an incredibly good acceptance. However, it seems that "Solo Leveling" has broken with this paradigm, as a recent leak has claimed that it will have a total of six seasons, at least.

Leveling alone could have up to six seasons

The information, in fact, does not come from a Twitter leak as many have claimed, but from the Korean portal The Bell: Gateway to Capital Markets, focused on market movements in South Korea. It is a digital newspaper focused on finance, with quite a reputation within the corporate industry.

In an article published in February of this year, the outlet reported that D&C Media, the publisher that publishes the contents of "Solo Leveling," had reabsorbed the webtoon publisher from which it had parted ways three years ago, in an attempt to streamline the management of print novels and webtoons by combining them into a single marketplace. after it was reported that the market in South Korea for this type of content fell by 40 percent in 2023, compared to the previous year.

According to the report, in the two and a half years since the separation of the companies, that is, the soap opera and webtoon companies within D&C Media, the global webtoon market grew rapidly thanks to works such as "Solo Leveling" and this is where the leak comes in.

After mentioning "Solo Leveling" as the flagship work of the webtoon market, it is mentioned that the anime adaptation is on air (remember that the article is from last month), and that a second season will air in the second half of the year. However, it is also mentioned that the production will last until a sixth season, expanding the possibility that the webtoon's market sales will increase accordingly.

Of course, this is only what is planned on the South Korean side, but what will be the plans on the Japanese side? An adaptation announced with six seasons would equate to a total of 72 episodes if the first season ended today is maintained. Based on fan feedback, this would be enough to adapt the entirety of the original work. But how many years will the six-season production of this adaptation take?
