Oshi no Ko Dates Second Season

During the AnimeJapan 2024 event, the production team for the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi no Ko, announced that its premiere is scheduled for next July in Japan. A new special visual and video for the project was also revealed, as well as new voice cast members.

More information about the second season will be revealed on the premiere anniversary of the first season of Oshi no Ko on April 12.

The first season premiered during the Japanese season and had a total of eleven episodes, while the HIDIVE platform is in charge of its distribution in the West. For their part, Akasaka and Yokoyari began publishing the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine in April 2020. Aka Akasaka (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) writes it while Mengo Yokoyari (Kuzu no Honkai) illustrates it.
Production Equipment
- Daisuke Hiramaki (Watashi ni Tenshi ga Maiorita!, Koisuru Asteroid, Selection Project) is directing the project at Doga Kobo Studios with the assistance of Saori Tachibana (Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san, Senpai ga Uzai Kouhai no Hanashi).
- Jin Tanaka (Tokyo Ghoul, Maou Gakuin no Futekigousha, Yesterday wo Utatte) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
- Kanna Hirayama (Kanojo, Okarishimasu, Selection Project) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
Synopsis of Oshi no Ko
The 16-year-old girl, Ai Hoshino, is a talented and beautiful idol who is adored by her fans. She is the personification of purity, but not all that glitters is gold... Gorou Honda is a gynecologist from a rural area and a big fan of Ai. So when the pregnant idol shows up at his hospital, he's beyond baffled. Gorou promises her a safe birth, but little does he know that an encounter with a mysterious figure would result in her untimely death, or so he thought. Upon opening his eyes, Gorou finds himself on the lap of his beloved idol and discovers that he has been reborn as Aquamarine Hoshino, Ai's newborn son! With his world turned upside down, Gorou soon discovers that show business is full of thorns, and that talent doesn't always breed success. Will he be able to protect his beloved idol's smile?
