It is undeniable that "Oshi no Ko" is one of the most important anime franchises of the moment. With a successful anime adaptation already in the works for a second season, as well as a live-action series and film adaptation, Aqua Hoshino's revenge story has done nothing but reap success after success.

But this widespread recognition must be why "Oshi no Ko" is constantly trending on social media. It's not just about new chapters anymore, but the phenomenon reaches even the strangest things that could be mentioned. Now the franchise has just generated a debate among netizens because the latter discovered that the uniform designs of Aqua Hoshino, Ruby Hoshino and other characters who appear as students of the Youtou Academy of Arts, are extremely similar to those of a real-life school.

This is the Hanlim Multi-Arts Academy, located in South Korea and known for admitting celebrities in the entertainment industry. We can note that the uniform designs, in fact, are identical to those shown in the "Oshi no Ko" franchise. However, neither Aka Akasaka nor Mengo Yokoyari have indicated whether they are aware of this or whether this school served as inspiration for their designs.

Of course, as we have already discussed in previous articles, this matter depends entirely on the eyes that look at it. That is, fans of "Oshi no Ko" will surely say that this is "an homage or a reference to real life," while anti-fans or those who simply ignore "Oshi no Ko" will point out that it is "a copy or even plagiarism."

Anyway, obviously the fans had a few things to say about it:

  • "At the end of the day, the similarities are too many to be a coincidence."
  • "However, would this be the responsibility of the author or the illustrator?"
  • "Hmm, this is a pretty funny thing, I'm surprised anyone noticed."
  • "First of all, the whole story of Oshi no Ko already seemed like a Korean drama to me."
  • "Well, variety and romance shows are also popular in South Korea."
  • "Don't ignore that South Korea copied the idea of our school uniforms, I think it's justified."
  • "The skirts are the only weird thing. I think they should have changed that in Oshi no Ko if they didn't want someone to notice the copy."
