Jun Mayuzuki's popular manga "Kowloon Generic Romance" has announced an exciting double adaptation to both anime and live-action film, both scheduled for 2025. The work, serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine, is a story of romance and mystery set in the nostalgic town of Kowloon, and has captured the attention of many for its intriguing narrative.

"Kowloon Generic Romance" follows the life of Reiko Kujirai, a real estate agent working in the chaotic and mystical city of Kowloon. The story begins to get complicated when Reiko discovers that Hajime Kudou, her co-worker for whom she has feelings, had a fiancée identical to her. This triggers a series of mysteries about his lost memories, his identity, and the dark secrets the city hides.

The cast for both adaptations has already been revealed. In the anime, Reiko's voice will be voiced by Haruka Shiraishi, while Tomokazu Sugita will play Hajime Kudou. Meanwhile, in the live-action film, Riho Yoshioka will play Reiko and Koshi Mizukami will play Hajime. Along with the reveal of the actors, the first visuals of the characters have also been presented, in which a romantic image of Hajime placing a hand on Reiko's cheek stands out, capturing the emotional closeness between both characters.

Jun Mayuzuki, author of the play, expressed her excitement for this double adaptation: "I feel incredibly lucky that both the cast and the production team have been fans of the manga since before. It's an honor to see how they bring my story to life." The author also commented that she was able to visit both production sets, where she was deeply moved by the passion that everyone has put into the project.

Actress Haruka Shiraishi, who plays Reiko in the anime, mentioned her surprise and happiness at getting the role, as she was a fan of the work long before she was cast: "Before the audition, I had already read the manga and was excited to be able to participate in a possible adaptation." For his part, Tomokazu Sugita, who will voice Hajime, shared a more enigmatic comment: "You don't need to prepare for anything, when you dream you don't need to make an effort... Don't you think so? Oh, a little new wrinkle."

"Kowloon Generic Romance" has gained popularity for its sci-fi and mystery-tinged romance narrative, and anticipation for both adaptations is growing rapidly. Fans of the manga are eager to see how the story will unfold in both animated and live-action formats, and the promotional images have already sparked speculation about the chemistry between the actors.
