Kimetsu no Yaiba is back with another video game

Aniplex has surprised fans of "Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" with a high-impact announcement: the long-awaited sequel to the hit video game "Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles" will arrive in 2025 under the name The Hinokami Chronicles 2, launching simultaneously worldwide for PC (Steam), PS4/PS5, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One/Series X❘S.
The franchise will continue its animated adaptation with a trilogy of films that will cover the final arc of the story, where the most intense confrontations between the protagonists and the Upper Moons take place, culminating in the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji. This format will allow for more detailed storytelling and high-quality animation, something that has characterized Demon Slayer since its inception. The first film will be released sometime in 2025, with Ufotable in charge of the production.
The video game "Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles 2" will follow the events of the original title, covering the arcs of the Red Light District, the Blacksmith Village and the Hashira Training. In its Solo Play mode, players will be able to relive the exciting adventures of Tanjiro and company in these crucial stages of the story. Meanwhile, the Versus (PvP) mode will include all the characters and demons from the first game, along with new additions such as Muichiro Tokito and Mitsuri Kanroji, in addition to the nine Hashira, who will be fully playable.

The first title, released in 2021 and developed by CyberConnect2, was a huge success, surpassing 4 million copies sold globally. The sequel promises to expand the experience with a revamped combat design and more varied game modes. Aniplex also announced that a demo event will be held at the Jump Festa 2025, on December 21 and 22, 2024, where fans will have the opportunity to try the game for the first time.
"Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba" has been one of the most successful franchises of the last decade, with a manga that has sold more than 150 million copies, a globally acclaimed anime adaptation, and films that became box office successes. Both the film trilogy and the video game sequel reaffirm the lasting impact of this work on the entertainment industry.
