A press release confirmed that the manga written and illustrated by Afro, "Mono," will be adapted into anime. The statement revealed a promotional video and production team details, but did not offer details about the voice cast. Also included was a message from Afro, who is also the author of "Yuru Camp":

  • "Thank you for the anime adaptation of MONO! Yuru Camp, which I'm serializing, can be explained in one word as "a story about going camping," but MONO is set in Yamanashi and does so many different things, such as playing with an action camera, shooting horror movies, going to buy ham, visiting a winery, and participating in a gluttony challenge, that can't be explained in one word. It's impossible to explain it in a few words. So please watch the anime to find out what the story is about!"

Afro began publishing the manga through Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Carat magazine in March 2017, where it is still in publication. Afro is also the author of the popular manga "Yuru Camp," which has inspired multiple anime adaptations.

Production Equipment

  • Ryouta Aikei (Enen no Shouboutai, Ousama Ranking, Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season) is directing the anime at Soigne Studios.
  • Youko Yonaiyama (Skip to Loafer, Paripi Koumei, Yubisaki to Renren) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
  • Takuya Miyahara (Asteroid in Love, Selection Project, Spy Classroom) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
