Dungeon Meshi anime will have a second season

Following the airing of today's final episode, the production of a second season for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Ryouko Kui, "Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon)," was announced. Details on the release date will be announced soon.

The first season premiered during the Winter-2024 period (January-March) and had a total of twenty-four episodes, while the Netflix platform is in charge of its distribution in the West. Ryouko Kui began publishing the manga in Kadokawa's Harta magazine in February 2014 and finished it in September 2023, compiling the work in a total of fourteen volumes.

• Yoshihiro Miyajima (SSSS. Dynazenon, SSSS. Gridman) is in charge of directing the anime at TRIGGER studios.
• Kimiko Ueno (The Royal Tutor, Chimimo, Eternal Boys) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
• Naoki Takeda (BNA: Brand New Animal) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
• Yasunori Mitsuda (Chrono Trigger, Xenoblade Chronicles, Black Butler: Book of Circus) is in charge of the composition of the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Dungeon Meshi

After the Golden Kingdom is sunk underground by a demented wizard, its king emerges, promising all his treasure to whoever defeats the wizard, before crumbling. The guilds are encouraged by this promise and traverse the labyrinthine dungeon in search of the mage. Laios, the leader of one of these guilds, encounters a dragon that annihilates his group and devours his sister Falin. Despite having lost all of their supplies and belongings, Laios, along with Marcille, an elf healer, and Chilchuck, a halfling thief, immediately re-enter the dungeon, determined to save Falin.

As time is of the essence, Laios suggests the taboo of eating the dungeon's monsters as a means of gathering supplies. When they prepare their first meal in the dungeon, a dwarf named Senshi stops them. A monster cooking enthusiast, he helps them prepare their monster ingredients for safe consumption. After learning of Laios' circumstances, Senshi expresses his desire to cook a dragon and joins his guild, thus beginning their raid together into the dungeon full of food.
