Disney's Twisted-Wonderland anime will have three seasons

During a special event, details for the anime adaptation of the video game "Disney Twisted-Wonderland" were finally announced. The press release indicated that the adaptation will premiere in October-2025 through the Disney Plus service and that it will have three seasons titled: "Episode of Heartslabyul", "Episode of Savanaclaw", and "Episode of Octavinelle".

Disney Twisted-Wonderland is a mobile role-playing adventure game with simulation elements, developed by Aniplex in collaboration with Walt Disney Japan. The title combines the theme of classic Disney fairy tales with a dark and gothic approach, and was originally released in Japan in March 2020. Later, an English version was released in January 2022.

The story begins when the player, who has no memory of how he got there, wakes up in this mysterious world and is welcomed into the academy. Throughout the game, the player interacts with students in the different dorms, each inspired by a Disney universe, as they try to find a way to return home.

Each bedroom is based on a classic Disney villain, and its theme reflects the universe of the corresponding film:

Heartslabyul – Inspired by the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland.
Savanaclaw – Based on Scar from The Lion King.
Octavinelle – Inspired by Ursula from The Little Mermaid.
Scarabia – Referring to Jafar from Aladdin.
Pomefiore – Inspired by the Evil Queen from Snow White.
Ignihyde – Based on Hades by Hercules.
Diasomnia – Inspired by Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty.

Production Equipment

Shin Katagai (Ookami Shoujo to Kuro Ouji, Eyeshield 21, Akkun to Kanojo) is in charge of the general direction of the project, while Takahiro Natori (Boku no Hero Academia, Sousou no Frieren, Gosick) is in charge of the direction of the anime at Yumeta Company studios in collaboration with Graphinica.
Kouichi Katou (Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Uchuu Kyoudai) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts in collaboration with Takahiro Natori.
Kaori Nakano (Shuumatsu no Walküre, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero) and Akane Satou (Dororo, Ballroom e Youkoso) are in charge of character design and animation direction.

Disney Twisted-Wonderland Synopsis

Perhaps there are more "villains" than it seems... Summoned by a magic mirror to Twisted Wonderland, a world completely different from your own, you arrive at Night Raven College, a prestigious arcane academy. With nowhere else to go, you accept the hospitality of the masked director and start looking for your way home. You quickly realize that the students at this school are as talented as they are dysfunctional: bickering and competition are the order of the day. Will you be able to work with them and eventually return to where you came from? And what secrets are hidden within the evil hearts of these students?
