Blue Lock will end with a double episode

On the official site for the anime adaptation of the manga "Blue Lock", it was announced that the second season, currently on air, will end on December 28 with a double episode (Episodes 13 and 14). The statement did not explain why this decision is being made, but apparently it was already decided from the moment it was established that the series would have 14 episodes.
This means that the second season of "Blue Lock" is obliged to end its broadcast in December-2024, because the following week would already correspond to the Winter-2025 period (January-March) and must cede its broadcast block to the next premiere.

On the other hand, Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yuusuke Nomura have been publishing the manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine since August 2018. The twenty-four-episode first season premiered during the Fall-2022 season (October-December), followed by the film "Blue Lock: Episode Nagi," released in April of this year.

Synopsis of Blue Lock
The story begins with the elimination of the Japanese National Team from the 2018 FIFA World Cup, prompting the Japan Football Union to start a training program to prepare a team of high school students who will participate in the 2022 World Cup. Isagi Yoichi, a forward, receives an invitation to join this program shortly after his team misses an opportunity to participate in the Nationals, due to passing the ball to his less skilled teammate, who obviously missed the shot, which denoted Isagi's cowardice in not daring to finish the play by himself.
His coach will be Ego Jinpachi, who intends to put an end to the idea of "weak Japan in football" by implementing a radical new training regime: isolating 300 young strikers in a prison-like institution called "Blue Lock", and subjecting them to rigorous training that will create "the greatest, most talented and most selfish striker in the world".
