Bakugo already dominates the My Hero Academia poll

On August 5, the long-awaited global popularity poll of characters of "My Hero Academia" began, as part of the special projects to celebrate the conclusion of the original manga. Just a week before its start, the preliminary results have caused a stir in the fan community. Katsuki Bakugo is positioned in first place, closely followed by Izuku Midoriya and Shoto Todoroki, who occupy the second and third positions, respectively.

Bakugo's dominance has generated intense discussion among fans. Although he is a character who has shown remarkable development throughout the series, his explosive and, in many cases, violent personality has caused many to consider him an intolerable and detestable character. Those who do not sympathize with him criticize that he is at the top of the poll, arguing that his attitude and behaviors should not be a reason for admiration.

On the other hand, the fujoshi community has been pointed out as one of the main reasons behind Bakugo's popularity. Fujishi's are fans known for shippear (pairing) male characters with each other, and in the case of "My Hero Academia," one of the most popular couples is that of Bakugo and Izuku Midoriya. This trend has led some to claim that the poll is "riddled with fujoshi," suggesting that the results don't reflect the tastes of the original demographic the franchise is targeting.

These kinds of comments have further stoked the debate, with some fans defending Bakugo and the Fujishi community, while others insisting that the influence of these groups is distorting the true spirit of the series.
