Baka and Test Will Never Come Back, Author Says

Author Kenji Inoue surprised his followers by announcing through his official Twitter account that there will be no continuation for his popular series "Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts" (Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu). In his message, Inoue made it clear:
- "By the way, I'm saying it at once! There will be no sequel to Baka and Test! The sequel to Grand Blue is a miracle!"

This message was shared shortly after the production of a second season was announced for the anime adaptation of "Grand Blue," another of Inoue's standout works, which has also gained a large fan base. "Baka and Test: Summon the Beasts," published between January 2007 and March 2015, follows the life of Akihisa Yoshii, a student at Fumizuki Academy, where students are divided into classes based on their results in entrance exams.
The upper classes receive better facilities and benefits, while class F, the worst in the school, has hardly any resources. Outraged by this situation, Akihisa and his companions decide to fight against the upper classes to obtain respect and better conditions. The franchise got an anime adaptation produced by Silver Link, which consisted of a 13-episode series aired from January to March 2010, followed by a two-episode OVA in February 2011.
The second season aired from July to September 2011. In addition to the anime, the franchise had three manga adaptations published through Kadokawa, as well as a video game for PlayStation Portable in December 2012. Despite the success of the series and its reception among fans, the news that there will not be a sequel has generated a wave of sadness and disappointment among those who were waiting for the return of "Baka and Test".
Here are some of the most prominent comments from the community:
- "I'm happy about the sequel to Grand Blue, but I've been waiting for the one to Baka and Test, and for the author to say that there won't be a sequel fills me with sadness."
- "We'll have to make him drink a lot of oolong tea to get him drunk and do a third season."
- "Do Baka Test and Grand Blue have the same author? That's why the stories are so crazy...".
- "Come to think of it, it's been more than 10 years since the Baka and Test anime..."
- "They just destroyed the dream of old-school otakus."
