After more than a decade, Minami-ke is back

In a surprise announcement during the "Mixa Animation Diary 'Minami-ke' 20th Anniversary Tanabata Festival" event, the production of a new season for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Koharu Sakuraba, "Minami-ke", was confirmed. This project will then be the fifth season of the franchise, and the first in more than a decade since the last one aired in 2013.
The statement did not reveal production details or a scheduled release date, so we will have to wait for more news on the matter.

Koharu Sakuraba began publishing the manga through Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine in March 2004. The work inspired a thirteen-episode anime adaptation produced by Daume Studios and released in the Fall-2007 season (October-December).
A thirteen-episode second season was produced, titled "Minami-ke: Okawari" and produced by Asread Studios, which premiered in the Winter 2008 season (January-March), followed by a third season of thirteen episodes produced by the same studio and released in the Winter 2009 season. A thirteen-episode fourth season was produced by Feel Studios, titled "Minami-ke: Tadaima" and premiered in the Winter-2013 season.
