Dandadan will be as popular as Jujutsu Kaisen, they say

MBS TV promoted the anime adaptation of the popular manga 'Dandadan' at its Sept. 25 Fall Press Conference in Osaka, which will air on its nationwide programming block in October. This work, created by Yukinobu Tatsu, has been a resounding success since its serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump Plus application, accumulating millions of views and millions of copies in circulation.
'Dandadan' combines a story of supernatural battles with elements of comedy and youthful romance, attracting a large number of readers thanks to its fresh and original approach. MBS General Programming Director Shinichi Tabuchi (田淵伸一) highlighted the potential of the series, stating that despite its occult and paranormal themes, the series has the potential to become a success at the level of anime such as 'Jujutsu Kaisen', 'Haikyu!' and 'Kimetsu no Yaiba', due to its ability to attract a diverse audience.
'Dandadan' has stood out for its originality in tackling urban legends, aliens and paranormal elements, which has generated a fan base passionate about horror and occult themes. However, some critics point out that this peculiar mix of genres could make it not to the taste of all viewers.
The anime will be produced by the renowned Science SARU studio, known for its innovative and unique visual style. This has generated great expectations, but also uncertainty among fans about how the transition of the manga's narrative and visual dynamics to the animated format will be. According to Tabuchi, the team behind the series is confident that 'Dandadan' could make its way into the international market, just as other successful franchises have done.

On social networks, the statement has generated a divided reaction. Some fans express excitement, while others doubt the scope the adaptation may have. Among the comments are:
- "Dandadan has quite a few elements of horror and occultism, so its success will depend on whether it manages to capture the attention of lovers of those subjects."
- "MBS has a track record of success in anime, so it's understandable that they're confident, but we'll have to see how the general public reacts."
- "The manga is very sustained in its action and visual composition, so we will have to see how that adapts to the anime."
- "Dandadan is a rare anime that even Mayumi Tanaka participates in."
- "TBS is also declaring that 'Ao no Hako' will be their number one. It looks like it will be a direct battle between TBS and MBS for anime dominance."
- "Although it is from another chain, it will depend on whether they can take advantage of social networks as much as 'Sousou no Frieren' did. If they manage to keep the conversation between episodes, the hype and anticipation for each episode will increase."
- "I secretly support Dandadan because Zutomayo is in charge of the ending."
- "The anime leaked overseas, didn't it?"
- "Important people should only watch and support warmly."
- "Wouldn't it be safer to animate the rest of 'Haikyuu!!'? If you really believe that Dandadan is on the level of those three anime, your sense of taste and judgment are failing."
- "Honestly, I don't think it has that much potential. It'll probably end up being like 'Chainsaw Man.' It doesn't seem to be the kind of manga that's going to explode in popularity."
- "In the fall, I think 'Ranma' will be the most popular series."
- "These kinds of high expectations can backfire."
- "As Science SARU produces it, I have a feeling that it will be a stylized and modern anime."
- "Dandadan is very entertaining, but the story and characters are quite quirky, so I'm not sure it's going to have the same impact as 'Haikyuu!!' or 'Kimetsu no Yaiba.'"
