Chainsaw Man will return in 2025

During the panel for the "Chainsaw Man" franchise at the Jump Festa 2025 event, a new promotional video for the film "Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc" was revealed. The video confirms that the premiere is scheduled for sometime in 2025 in Japan, and lists important changes to the production team.

Reina Ueda plays Reze in this new production, and commented on it:

"In anticipation, I nervously headed to the studio to record the PV. During the recording, I heard Kikunosuke Toya's performance on the microphone next to me and couldn't help but think, "It's Denji! The real Denji is here!" she completely marvels. Between one thing and another, before I knew it, the recording was over. The team's respect for the original work and their firm commitment to the creation of this production have made me feel a great responsibility. I sincerely hope that everyone enjoyed the PV. I'm sure the main story will also be presented in a wonderful way. Please continue to support the movie Chainsaw Man: Reze's Arc. Thank you very much!"

The anime adaptation aired during the Fall-2022 season (October-December) and had a total of twelve episodes. On the other hand, Tatsuki Fujimoto began the publication of the Chainsaw Man manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in December 2018, ending the first part in December 2020. The second part of the work moved to the digital service Shonen Jump Plus, where it has been published since July 2022.

Tatsuya Yoshihara (Black Clover, Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou, Tsue to Tsurugi no Wistoria) is in charge of directing this feature film at MAPPA studios, replacing Ryu Nakayama.
Hiroshi Seko (Shingeki no Kyojin, Jujutsu Kaisen, Mob Psycho 100) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts.
Souta Yamazaki (Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season, Tenki no Ko) and Kazutaka Sugiyama (Darling in the FranXX, Darling in the FranXX) are in charge of character design and animation direction.
Kensuke Ushio (Koe no Katachi, Devilman: Crybaby, Tengoku Daimakyou) is in charge of composing the soundtrack.

Synopsis of Chainsaw Man

The story is set in a world where Demons threaten the peace of humans, making them targets to be eliminated. Denji is a young and depressed man who has sold several of his organs and who works as a lumberjack and demon hunter to pay off his late father's debt. Denji owns a dog (which is also a demon) named Pochita, which has chainsaws and which he uses to carry out his work.

This is explained by the fact that humans can make contracts with demons. After returning home from a job, Denji is called by a Yakuza to infiltrate a building and murder another demon. However, the plan was a trap to assassinate him as part of a Yakuza contract with the demon, gaining more power. But Pochita comes to Denji's aid and joins him, becoming a half-man, half-demon and acquiring Pochita's chainsaws.
