Author confirms that Jujutsu Kaisen is at its climax

The notoriously reclusive creator of "Jujutsu Kaisen," Gege Akutami, has confirmed that the series is nearing its climax in a new Q&A session at its current exhibition in Shibuya, Japan. The current "Shinjuku Confrontation Arc" represents the outcome of Jujutsu Kaisen, as revealed by Akutami, the original creator of the manga.

The "Gege Akutami Jujutsu Kaisen Exhibition" in Japan features a new Q&A session, where Akutami was asked if he had had a general concept of what the Sacrificial Games would be before writing them. Through a translation on Twitter, Akutami responded:

  • "I thought of it as a crutch to take us to the Shinjuku Confrontation Arc (final section/saga). I had already decided on the things that needed to happen (like characters and things from the Colony), but I kept each segment of the Colony contained to be its own individual volume, and I thought about how to make them as exciting as possible as I went along."

This is not surprising but it is forceful, since Akutami has always maintained that the series would conclude sooner rather than later. The series continues the intense fight between Itadori and his fellow sorcerers against Sukuna following his return on July 7. Akutami had taken a two-week break, extended for an additional week, due to health reasons.

Along with the Q&A, Akutami's exhibit features a timeline of "Jujutsu Kaisen," featuring one-shots and prototypes from the series. anime! Anime! It covers the exhibit in detail, revealing that the room houses more than 4,400 pages of manuscripts and more than 3,000 pages of drafts.

Although "Jujutsu Kaisen" is coming to an end this year, next year will likely mark the return of anime. It is not yet clear whether the third installment of Jujutsu Kaisen will be in the format of a TV series or a movie. However, Shota Goshozono, director of the second season, gave information about the production of the series in his visit to the Anime Expo this July, and he will return in some form for the next part of the series. This next part will adapt the Sacrificial Game Arc, which received its first trailer last year.

The end of Jujutsu Kaisen will follow that of My Hero Academia, which will conclude in August after the climax of the "Final War Arc".
